This hand carved wood incense holder is finished with natural vegetable lacquer to bring out the beautiful grain. The serpentine in the center is a gorgeous piece of stone with holes for your incense sticks. Wood work is traditional to small villages from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka States in India where these items are made within the frame of cooperatives gathering tens of producers who can maintain their own plantation, getting raw material at better prices and be beneficiaries of advices from designers. The wood used is Ankudu (Wrightia tinctoria), a local tree which has been largely replanted to face the demand of toys from India and abroad. Beautiful lotus, star or circle design.
